A Rainy Day

This is my third audio assignment for this week. In this assignment, we had to upload a new sound or sound effect to freesound.org that we recorded. I chose to do this assignment because I had trouble finding some of the sounds that I wanted to use for my first assignment this week. I wanted to help people who will use freesound.org in the future find the sound effect that they are looking for when they are trying to create their new recording.

I was on my way to eat dinner with my mom yesterday and it started to rain. She turned on the windshield wipers and this assignment popped into my head. I thought I should record the sound of the windshield wipers and post it on freesound.org. I knew that there probably weren’t be very many options to choose from under this category and if there were, there might not have been any good ones that people would want to use. I checked when I got home and there were some recordings under this category, but I still felt like I should add my recording to the list because there could never be too many options. Some of the other sounds might not have been what other people were looking for and I am hoping that this one will help those people find what they need for their recordings.

Link to my sound:

The sound is saying that it “has not been moderated yet,” so I also posted it to SoundCloud just incase it takes awhile for it to get moderated.

Assignment: Sound Effects

Stars: 3.5

I created this sound on the Voice Memos app on my phone.

Step 1: Click the red circle to start recording.

Step 2: A red square will replace the circle. Click the square to stop recording.

Step 3: Click Done to save the recording.

Step 4: Enter A title for your recording.

Step 5: Click on your recording and then the square with the arrow in it to export your recording.

  1. Great job Tyler! Way to be creative and think outside of the box. You made the most of the opportunity given to you. I also want to say way to be in depth about how you created this sound.

  2. Thank you, I feel like the some of my best ideas come to me when I least expect them to. Also, I try to show all of my steps when I write a new blog post because if someone else wants to create something like what I created, they will know exactly how to make it without having trouble.

  3. I love how simple this sound is and yet listening to it I am vividly transported to memories of hiding out in cars during soccer games that were interrupted by summer thunderstorms. It’s awesome that you have your very own sound effect on Free Sound now too!
